Per recent claims from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided evidence indicating Maxwell is preparing the commutation application. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, declared in a official statement that the prison’s warden was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to support her bid for executive mercy.

Specific details of the “commutation application” remain unknown, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Custom Arrangements

Raskin states that, per the insider, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the supervisor has individually organized exclusive visits for her and her guests.

These meetings reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and chance of unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was provided directions about who she should tell her contacts to contact and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the warden, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has considered,” the representative added.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Maxwell told close associates in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

In August, Maxwell was transferred from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most inmates are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also once acted as the President's private attorney.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own connections to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, Raskin also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and called on the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a possible clemency for the convict with the official or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the move or special conditions in prison, and whether she, her attorneys, family or representatives have made any commitments to the President or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the questions by 24 November.

Last month, the nation's highest court rejected an appeal from the convict on her trafficking verdict.
